COVID Vaccine in Pregnancy: Link to Development?
Multicenter study finds equivalent ASQ-3 scores at 18–30 months in offspring of vaccinated and unvaccinated mothers
A multicenter prospective observational study by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute found no significant differences in neurodevelopmental outcomes between children born to mothers vaccinated with mRNA SARS-CoV-2 vaccines and those born to unvaccinated mothers. The study involved 271 vaccinated and 240 unvaccinated mothers with comparable scores on the Ages and Stages Questionnaire. This research suggests that mRNA vaccination during pregnancy is safe, with no evident impacts on child development.
1. Study involved 271 exposed and 240 unexposed mothers.2. mRNA vaccine during pregnancy showed no adverse effects on neurodevelopment.3. Ages and Stages Questionnaire indicated equivalent outcomes.4. Study maintained rigorous matching on characteristics.5. Findings support mRNA vaccine safety in pregnancy.
