Researchers at Qingdao University of Science and Technology have discovered an innovative approach to enhance fuel production by co-pyrolyzing agricultural biomass, specifically peanut straw, with low-density polyethylene (LDPE) waste. This method overcomes challenges of oxygen-rich byproducts, yielding higher quality bio-oil with increased hydrocarbons. Their findings indicate that a 1:7 peanut straw-to-LDPE ratio not only improves mass conversion and reaction kinetics but also demonstrates potential for effective waste management by tackling biomass utilization and plastic pollution.
