A quality improvement initiative at a large academic diabetes clinic led by Dr. Kristen Flint significantly increased continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) adoption among Medicare patients on insulin. This change followed the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' expansion of CGM coverage in 2023. By implementing targeted interventions, such as provider education and patient outreach, the initiative raised CGM usage from 49.6% to 62.6%. The study emphasizes how structured quality improvement strategies can enhance patient access to crucial diabetes technology.
