Age and Menopause Shape Women’s Anger Patterns: Study Finds

Share

A long-term study involving 271 midlife women examined how age and reproductive stage impact the experience and expression of anger over more than a decade. Led by Nancy Fugate Woods, researchers found that with age, scores for State Anger, Trait Anger, and Anger Control increased, while Anger Temperament, Reaction, and Aggression decreased. Notably, anger levels peaked during the late reproductive stage and early menopausal transition, underscoring the influence of biological and psychosocial factors on emotional changes throughout this life phase.
