Time of Day May Impact Aging Predictions

Share

Epigenetic age, a marker for biological aging, fluctuates throughout the day, impacting age predictions. A recent study in Aging Cell tracked 17 epigenetic clocks over 24 hours, discovering highest estimates at noon and lowest around midnight. Fluctuations were linked to the daily variations in white blood cell composition. By highlighting the influence of sample collection timing on age estimation, the study emphasizes the importance of accurately interpreting biological age for aging research, disease prognosis, and lifestyle interventions.
