Unexpected Diagnosis in Ring Finger Mass

Share

An 18-year-old female presented with digital actinomycosis after a painless mass developed on her ring finger. This rare form of actinomycosis typically affects the cervicofacial region, making such digital cases uncommon. The patient experienced a 2-month duration of progressive swelling. Imaging indicated a poorly defined lytic lesion, raising concerns for various differential diagnoses, including osteomyelitis and neoplasms. Histopathology confirmed the diagnosis through sulfur granules, illustrating the need for awareness of actinomycosis in similar cases. Post-surgery, the patient recovered without recurrence.
