The Hydrus® Microstent is a cutting-edge device designed for minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, specifically for adults with mild to moderate primary open-angle glaucoma. Developed by Alcon and showcased by Professor Norbert Pfeiffer at the European Glaucoma Society Congress, this microstent is crafted from flexible, biocompatible nitinol and bypasses the trabecular meshwork to restore aqueous flow through Schlemm’s canal, significantly improving intraocular pressure (IOP) management. Its innovative design offers a larger coverage area, enhancing its functional effectiveness without damaging the surrounding structures.
