The prevalence of presbyopia and myopia is projected to rise, posing economic burdens. Treatment options, including surgical procedures like LASIK, multifocal intraocular lenses, and contact lenses, have advanced. Additionally, pharmaceutical agents and extended-depth-of-focus (EDOF) designs are being developed to address refractive surface aberrations and provide solutions for presbyopia and myopia. EDOF lenses like the NaturalVue Multifocal 1 Day and SynergEyes iD Multifocal EDOF aim to improve vision quality at different distances, offering alternative options to traditional designs. Research suggests that EDOF designs may have advantages over other options and provide promising outcomes for presbyopic individuals.
