Study Reveals Increased Hospitalizations in Patients With Endometriosis

Share

A study published in eClinicalMedicine revealed that female patients diagnosed with endometriosis demonstrate more frequent hospital admissions and shorter stays compared to those without the condition. The researchers analyzed data from the Australian Longitudinal Study on Women's Health spanning from 1973 to 2022, encompassing 13,501 women. The findings underscore the substantial burden endometriosis places on healthcare utilization, advocating for targeted interventions to alleviate this strain on both patients and healthcare systems. Lead author Dereje G. Gete called for further research to investigate the root causes of these hospital admissions and extended stays.
