A multicenter study in East Africa demonstrates that blood-based liquid biopsy can enhance the diagnosis of Epstein–Barr virus (EBV)–positive Burkitt’s lymphoma (BL) in children, particularly where access to traditional pathology services is limited. By evaluating 377 patients, the study showed that circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) analysis yielded high sensitivity (0.86) and specificity (0.95), significantly reducing turnaround times from nearly 47 days to just 6.5 days. This approach offers potential for earlier diagnosis alongside existing tissue-based techniques.
