Low-Carb Diet Improves Reflux and GI Health in Obesity Study

Share

A recent study, the CARBFUNC trial, investigated the effects of low-carbohydrate high-fat (LCHF) diets on gastrointestinal symptoms, quality of life, and fecal short-chain fatty acid concentrations in adults with obesity. The LCHF diet demonstrated significant improvements in reflux symptoms and gastrointestinal-related quality of life, while altering fecal short-chain fatty acid concentrations. Despite similar weight loss across all groups, the study emphasized the impactful influence of diet composition on reflux and gastrointestinal quality of life.
