Research published in Forbes suggests that the cannabis extract cannabinoid PHEC-66 shows promise in treating melanoma, a deadly form of skin cancer. The study found that the extract could interact with specific receptors to slow the growth of melanoma cells and increase their programmed cell death. While the findings are encouraging, further preclinical studies are needed to fully understand its efficacy and potential as a supplementary therapy for melanoma patients.
1. Cannabinoid PHEC-66 may effectively treat deadly melanoma. 2. Melanoma causes 80% of skin cancer–related mortality. 3. Compounds in cannabis, such as polyphenols and flavonoids, could promote anticancer activity. 4. The extract interacts with CB1 and CB2 receptors, slowing melanoma cell growth and increasing programmed cell death. 5. Further preclinical studies are needed to understand its efficacy and potential as a supplementary therapy for melanoma patients.
