A study published in EMBO Molecular Medicine by Wang et al uncovered genetic mechanisms related to psoriatic arthritis mutilans using the PAM Nordic cohort. They identified rare variants in the NOX4 gene that potentially increase reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels and play a role in osteoclast differentiation. These findings could advance the understanding of joint destruction and lead to new therapeutic interventions for treating the disease.
