Model for Predicting Risk of Heart Failure or Cardiomyopathy After Breast Cancer Treatment

Share

Barac et al. developed a 10-year risk prediction model for heart failure or cardiomyopathy (HF/CM) in women undergoing breast cancer treatment. Analyzing data from 26,044 patients in Kaiser Permanente Southern California from 2008-2020, the model utilized various predictors such as age, treatment type, and pre-existing health conditions. The study categorized patients into low, moderate, and high-risk cohorts, with significant differences in HF/CM risk percentages at 5 and 10 years. The model aims to enhance cardiac management for breast cancer patients.
