WHO Checklist Linked to Lower Stillbirths

Share

The implementation of the World Health Organization's Safe Childbirth Checklist (SCC) in lower-middle-income countries has significantly improved adherence to evidence-based birth practices and reduced stillbirth rates, according to a meta-analysis by Dr. Lennart Christian Kaplan from Georg-August-University of Göttingen. Analyzing data from three cluster randomized trials across India, Indonesia, and Pakistan, the study found a marked increase in adherence to essential birth practices, particularly during critical moments in childbirth, highlighting the importance of adequate health system infrastructure to support checklist use.
