1. Certain electronic cigarettes with nicotine may increase the risk of cardiac sympathetic dominance and arrhythmias. 2. The study involved exposing mice to different concentrations of nicotine-containing electronic cigarettes. 3. Mice exposed to high concentrations of nicotine experienced increased heart rates and decreased heart rate variability, demonstrating sympathetic dominance. 4. Atenolol pretreatment abolished the electronic cigarette-induced changes in heart rate and variability. 5. The findings suggest potential regulatory measures to mitigate adverse cardiovascular effects in human users.
