Reverse Psychology in Pediatric Dentistry: A Narrative Review

Share

Reverse psychology is gaining traction in pediatric dentistry as an effective method to manage anxiety and promote cooperation among children aged 4 to 12 years. By leveraging a child's desire for autonomy, this technique encourages compliance during dental procedures through playful challenges. Although effective in non-invasive situations, its success diminishes with highly anxious children or in invasive procedures. Ethical considerations and cultural acceptance are crucial, necessitating further research to refine its applications and evaluate long-term impacts.
