Synbiotic Supplement Reduced Multiple Inflammatory Proteins

Share

A recent trial demonstrated that a daily synbiotic comprising 27 bacterial cultures and a multifiber prebiotic blend significantly decreased various inflammation-related proteins compared to omega-3 and inulin supplements. Conducted by Dr. Amrita Vijay and colleagues from the University of Nottingham, the study found notable declines in IL-6, SIRT2, 4EBP1, and CCL23 among participants consuming the synbiotic. Additionally, increased serum butyrate correlated with lower IL-6 levels, suggesting potential gut-immune interactions, although limitations in sample size and study design were noted.
