UTICalc 3.0 Shows Promise for UTI Risk

A study published in JAMA Network Open highlights the effectiveness of UTICalc 3.0 in predicting urinary tract infections (UTIs) among febrile pediatric patients aged 2 to 24 months. Conducted across two Canadian emergency departments between November 2022 and January 2025, the research analyzed 2,561 cases, identifying 111 UTIs. The study employed two UTICalc models, achieving significant accuracy, particularly with the clinical and dipstick model. Outcomes demonstrated potential benefits in decision-making for urine testing.
