Retinal Examination in Babies and Young Children

Share

Retinal imaging plays a critical role in the diagnosis and management of pediatric retinal disorders. Traditional methods, such as indirect ophthalmoscopy, present practical challenges and limitations in capturing the peripheral retina. Digital retinal imaging, including widefield and ultra-widefield (UWF) systems, has emerged as a valuable tool for comprehensive and objective evaluation. The integration of artificial intelligence and advanced imaging modalities like optical coherence tomography (OCT) and fluorescein angiography (FA) promises to further enhance early detection and improve outcomes for pediatric patients.
