Head Trauma After Pressure Cooker Blast

Share

A 56-year-old woman suffered a severe occipitoparietal extradural hematoma due to a domestic pressure cooker explosion, leading to an emergency craniotomy. The trauma resulted from a blunt head injury caused by a pressure cooker lid, with the patient presenting with headaches and vomiting but maintaining consciousness. Imaging revealed significant intracranial issues, prompting surgical intervention due to notable midline shift and high hematoma thickness. Post-surgery, the patient recovered well, highlighting the dangers of low-order blast injuries.
