Lancet Report: 14 Keys to Dementia Prevention

Share

The 2024 Lancet Commission on Dementia Prevention, Intervention, and Care identified key modifiable risk factors contributing to approximately 45% of dementia cases worldwide and recommended strategies for reducing vascular damage, dementia neuropathology, stress, and inflammation to prevent and delay dementia. They emphasized the disproportionate burden of dementia risk factors among disadvantaged populations and the importance of culturally tailored interventions. The report also highlighted the higher mortality rates among people with dementia during the COVID-19 pandemic.
