Active PsA Linked to Maternal Hypertension in Pregnancy

Share

A Norwegian study finds women with active psoriatic arthritis (PsA) face higher risks of pre-eclampsia and gestational hypertension during pregnancy, with rates of 8.8% and 5.9% respectively, compared to 2.6% and 1.7% in controls. Conversely, women with inactive PsA show comparable rates to controls. The study highlights a potential link between disease activity and hypertensive disorders and emphasizes the need for management during pregnancy. The research included 109 pregnancies linked to 575,798 controls in Norway, led by Carina Gotestam Skorpen.
