Could This Tool Reduce Antidepressant Dropout?

Share

A new web-based clinical decision-support tool called PETRUSHKA has shown to significantly reduce treatment discontinuation rates in adults with major depressive disorder. By personalizing antidepressant selection based on individual patient characteristics and preferences, the tool achieved a 40% reduction in discontinuations at 8 weeks compared to usual care in a multicenter randomized trial across Brazil, Canada, and the UK. This innovative approach allows patients to actively participate in their treatment choices, potentially improving adherence and outcomes.
