Mini-Incision Carpal Tunnel Release Speeds Early Recovery vs Open Surgery

Share

In a randomized controlled trial, mini-incision carpal tunnel release using the ProMIS kit was found to provide quicker pain relief and functional recovery compared to traditional open carpal tunnel release. Conducted among 90 patients at Naresuan University, the study revealed significant improvements in pain scores and functional outcomes at 2 weeks and 1 month post-procedure, with some advantages persisting through 2 months. Although both methods demonstrated substantial improvements over time, the mini-incision approach showed reduced operative time and incision length with no major complications observed. Further research is recommended to explore long-term outcomes.
