A recent Swedish cohort study indicates that women who experience complications such as preeclampsia or gestational diabetes are at an up to 46-year heightened risk of developing atrial fibrillation (AF). Involving over 2.2 million women from 1973 to 2015, the study highlighted that 2.3% of participants developed AF, typically around age 63.
